Universal Law Origins: The Oldest Texts on Earth Class 3

“Universal Law: The Oldest Texts on Earth” Course

Course developed by Barry J. Lyons, Sr.

Class 3: Vibration

The Principle of Vibration: Sound, Mantra, and the Vibrancy of Creation

The universe is a field of vibrational energy: sound, speech, and mantra shape reality in

the oldest living spiritual tradition.

The journey so far:

· Principle 1: Mentalism: reality is fundamentally mind.

Reality is not made of dead matter but of living consciousness.

· Your thoughts are not separate from the world; they are the substance of your

experience.

· Everyday Example: A dream feels real while you are in it, but upon waking, you

realize it was entirely mental. Mentalism suggests waking reality is the same dream, just

shared and more stable.

· Principle 2: Correspondence: that mind is patterned; the cosmos and the self mirror

each other.

· We distinguished Correspondence from "The Secret," "you reap what you sow," and

karma-as-debt. It is about ontological alignment, not transactional magic.

Reality is mental, it is patterned. The same structures exist on all levels—physical,

mental, spiritual.

· You can know the cosmos by knowing yourself, and yourself by knowing the cosmos.

· Everyday Example: The cycle of seasons (macro) mirrors the cycle of your own

energy, creativity, and rest (micro).

PRINCIPLE 3: VIBRATION

If the universe is mental (Mentalism) and patterned (Correspondence), then the next

logical question is: How does this mind move? What is the mechanism that connects the

invisible to the visible? That mechanism is Vibration.

· Think of a sound that moves you...a piece of music, a voice, a bell, the ocean, or even

silence. What does that sound do to you? How does it change your body, your emotions,

or your thoughts?

A. The Principle Stated – Definition & Hermetic Context

· The Classic Formula: "Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates."

· Explanation: The universe is in constant motion, from the smallest atom to the

largest galaxy. The difference between physical matter, energy, thoughts, and

emotions is not their substance but their rate of vibration. What we call "solid" is

simply energy vibrating at a slower frequency; what we call "thought" is energy

vibrating at a higher frequency.

· Key Implication: Because everything vibrates, you can influence reality by changing

your own vibration, through sound, breath, focus, and intention. This is not mysticism; it

is physics (quantum mechanics, string theory) meeting ancient insight.

The Hermetic Context

· Where Does This Come From? The Corpus Hermeticum describes the divine mind

(Nous) as the source of all vibration. The cosmos is a "living, moving, breathing" entity.

Every creature, every thought, every star is a tone in the cosmic symphony.

· The Human Role: Humanity is uniquely positioned to consciously alter its vibration.

Through speech, song, ritual, and meditation, we can raise or lower our frequency. This

is the basis of all sacred sound practices.

Last week’s principle of correspondence tells us that patterns repeat across levels.

Vibration tells us how they repeat, through resonance. A vibrating tuning fork will cause

another fork of the same frequency to vibrate. This is "as above, so below" in action.

"It is important to note that the Principle of Vibration is not the same as the modern

notion of 'manifestation' found in 'The Secret.' That worldview often suggests that by

simply 'thinking positive,' you can bend the universe to your will. But Vibration, as the

ancients understood it, is not about control, it is about resonance. You do not make a

tuning fork vibrate by screaming at it; you vibrate it by striking it. The Rigvedic seers did

not chant to force the gods to comply; they chanted to align themselves with cosmic

order. Vibration is not a magic wand; it is a tuning fork. And the universe does not obey

you, it responds to you when you are in sync."

B. Sound in Ancient Cultures:

· Egypt: Priests recited spells with specific tonalities to "vibrate" the cosmos.

· China: The Tao Te Ching speaks of the "soundless sound" – the vibration that

precedes all form.

· India: The Vedic seers (rishis) heard the hymns of the Rigveda; they did not compose

them. The texts were "heard" as vibrations of the cosmos.

· The Power of Mantra: In Vedic tradition, a mantra is not just a word, it is a vibrational

key that unlocks specific states of consciousness. Chanting correctly is a way of tuning

yourself to the cosmic frequency.

· Hebrew: The Torah begins with "In the beginning, God said..." – a sonic vibration that

brings form from void.

· The Common Thread: Across cultures, the oldest texts agree: sound is not secondary

to creation—it is primary. The universe begins with a word, a tone, a vibration.

· Discussion Question: "What does it mean to 'raise your vibration'? Is it a helpful

metaphor, or is it actually describing something real?"

The Vibration of Now – How Sound, Speech, and Music Shape Us Today

The ancient seers understood something that modern science is only beginning to

articulate: sound is not merely information—it is a force that directly alters the state of

the human organism. We are, each of us, a vibrating being in a vibrating world. And

whether we realize it or not, the sounds we produce and consume are constantly

shaping our thoughts, emotions, bodies, and behaviors.

Here are four areas where this principle is actively at work today:

1. Music as Mood Regulation

From the lullaby that calms an infant to the heavy bass that energizes a workout, music

is the most accessible tool for vibrational regulation. Neurological research shows that

music triggers the release of dopamine, oxytocin, and cortisol, directly altering our

neurochemistry.

The Earworm Effect: Repetitive musical phrases, known as "earworms," demonstrate

Vibration's persistence. A melody you cannot shake is a literal vibrational loop in your

neural circuitry.

The Polyrhythmic Effect: Different musical structures influence brainwave states.

Drumming can induce trance states, associating with gamma and theta brainwaves.

Slow, minor-key music can induce sadness or introspection, while fast, major-key music

can induce joy.

Real-World Application: Playlists are now designed for specific states: "focus" playlists

for work, "sleep" playlists for rest, "hype" playlists for exercise. This is not a modern

invention, it is a digital expression of an ancient principle.

2. Speech and Vocal Tonality as Persuasion

Beyond the literal words, the tone of speech, its frequency, pace, and timbre,

communicates volumes. Research suggests that up to 80% of human communication is

non-verbal, with tone playing a pivotal role.

The Pacing Effect: A slow, deliberate tone can convey authority and calm. A rapid,

high-pitched tone can signal anxiety or excitement. The vibrational quality of the voice

shapes how a message is received, often more than its content.

The "Mirroring" Effect: In conversations, humans unconsciously mirror each other's

vocal patterns and speech rhythms. This is a form of resonance, we are literally

synchronizing our vibrations with another person.

Real-World Application: Leaders and public speakers are trained in vocal modulation

precisely because they understand that a powerful voice can inspire, calm, or persuade

thousands. Politicians, coaches, and salespeople use tonality to shift the emotional state

of an audience.

3. The Soundtrack of Space – How Environment Shapes Behavior

Retailers, restaurants, and workplaces have long understood that background sound

influences behavior.

The Shopping Effect: Upbeat music in a retail environment encourages energetic

movement and impulse buying. Slow, ambient music in a restaurant encourages longer

stays and more spending.

The Sonic Environment: The constant "low hum" of urban life, traffic, construction,

ventilation systems, creates a persistent, low-level vibrational stress response. Studies

show that exposure to "noise pollution" increases cortisol levels and contributes to

chronic health issues.

Real-World Application: Sound designers are now employed to create "sonic branding"

for companies, a specific audio identity (like the Intel chime or the McDonald's "I'm

Lovin' It" jingle) that embeds itself in the consumer's neural landscape.

4. Speech as Behavioral Engineering – From Political Rhetoric to Affirmations

Words are not just vehicles of meaning; they are vibrational packages that carry

emotional weight, triggering specific neural and physiological responses.

The Framing Effect: Political speech uses carefully chosen words to evoke specific

emotional responses. "Death tax" versus "estate tax," "pro-life" versus "pro-choice", the

words themselves carry vibrational frequencies that activate different neural networks.

The Affirmation Effect: The modern practice of affirmations (repeating positive

statements about oneself) is rooted in this principle. Repetition of a phrase, repeated

with emotional intensity, is thought to gradually reshape the subconscious. This is a

direct application of the Vibration principle, changing one's inner frequency through

intentional vocal output.

The Placebo Effect: Even the language of a doctor, "You will recover quickly", has been

shown to influence healing outcomes. The vibrational context of the statement shapes

the patient's expectation, which in turn shapes their physiology.

The Rigveda – The Oldest Continuously Used Text

· What Is It? The oldest sacred text of India and apparently the oldest religious text still

in continuous use. Composed in Sanskrit and transmitted orally for centuries before

being written down (c. 1500–1200 BCE).

· Its Structure: A collection of 1,028 hymns (suktas) divided into 10 books (mandalas),

dedicated to various deities, primarily Agni (fire), Indra (warrior/king of gods), Soma

(sacred plant/presence), Varuna (cosmic order), and many others.

· Its Nature: Unlike the Hermeticum, which is mystic wisdom, the Pyramid Texts, which

are funerary, the Rigveda is liturgical, it was sung during sacrifices. It celebrates life,

abundance, and the cosmic order (Rta). It is not a book of doctrine but a living

performance.

C. Introduction to Chanting

· The Science of Resonance: Explain the concept of resonance (a tuning fork causing

another to vibrate). The idea is that chanting a mantra creates a resonance that can

affect your body, mind, and environment.

Guided Chanting Practice

· In your free time, try a simple chanting exercise:

1. The Hum: Close your eyes and hum a low tone for 1 minute. Notice where you feel

the vibration (chest? throat? head?).

2. Om: Chant "Om" three times together. Feel the vibration moving from the belly to the

crown.

· Reflection: After the chanting:

· "What did you notice? Where did you feel the vibration?"

· "Did your mind become quieter or more active?"

· "Did you feel a shift in your body or emotions?"

"How did you feel? Did you experience a 'shift' in your state? If so, what do you think

caused it?"

D. Vibration Beyond Sound – The Frequency of Thoughts and Emotions

· Not Just Sound: Vibration is not limited to audible sound. The Principle of Vibration

applies to everything, including thoughts and emotions.

· Emotional Frequencies: Just as sound has a frequency, so do emotions. Joy, love, and

peace vibrate at a higher frequency; fear, anger, and grief vibrate at a lower frequency.

· Thoughts as Frequencies: Your thoughts generate a vibrational frequency that attracts

matching experiences. This is the germ of truth that was later distorted into "The

Secret." The difference is the how, it is not about wishing; it is about raising your entire

being.

· Practical Application: If you want to "raise your vibration," you can do so through

chanting, breathwork, movement, and even simply choosing to focus on gratitude.

E. Homework & Reading for Next Week (3 min)

· Reading Assignment:

· Excerpts from the Corpus Hermeticum (Book VIII: "That the Supreme Evil is the

Ignorance of God" – focus on the "cosmic vibration" of divine mind).

· A selection of hymns from the Rigveda (especially hymns to Vāc, Indra, and Agni).

· Journal Assignment:

· "Consider the idea that your thoughts have a 'vibration.' If you are experiencing a

low-frequency state (fear, anger, confusion), what sound, practice, or shift in focus could

help you 'raise' it? Write a plan for one small practice you can do this week to

intentionally shift your vibration."

Homework & Reading for Next Week

· Excerpts from the Corpus Hermeticum (Book II: "To Asclepius" – focus on

the correspondence between the cosmos and humanity).

· Coffin Texts spells (e.g., Spell 335 on the transformation of the soul). · Journal

· Identify a pattern in your life that feels 'cosmic': a recurring theme, a cycle, a

relationship that seems to mirror something larger. Write about it as an expression of

Correspondence. How does seeing it this way change your relationship to it?
